Write about what you will do as a researcher to collect the data you need to answers in your research problem.
Justify why you chose your methods with evidence from the literature. Explain your choice of methods thoroughly.
Write about barriers to conducting your research and some of the things that might go wrong while conducting your study.
Explain what you will do if you encounter barriers. For example if you were to send out 200 paper and pencil surveys, and only received 10 completed surveys?
What would you do…how might you “shift gears” to make sure you are able to collect enough information to answer your question.
What do you anticipate your research results will impact the literature (the theory it supports etc.)
What are some good follow-up studies (briefly specify the methods you might use)
Does the research have any applied implications? For example the study mentioned above (experiences that help inner city youth complete college) might inform guidance counselors how to help such students gain the experiences they need to complete college.
Specify how this information could be applied to benefit other people. Additionally if your study directly improves the lives of the participants you should write about the degree to which you expect the study to improve their lives. (e.g. a study to improve the reading fluency of children)
Specify how you plan on disseminating your results: in a journal? (if so which one?); at a conference?, as a professional document?
Conclusions
Review the important point of the proposal
Review the significance of the research, why it is important to the literature and how it adds to general knowledge.
Specify potential implications of the study, both long term and short term
Discuss how the research may be relevant to other groups of people other than the group specified in your significance section.
