Scenario: The Syed family.

Yusuf age 44 and Saba age 40 live on Apple Lane in The Burroughs with their three children Aliya age 15, Yasmin age 13 , Amir age 9. Yusuf’s mother Asma age 70 lives nearby. They are pious Muslims.
The Syed’s are British Asian of Pakistani heritage . Yusuf, Saba and the children were all born in the UK but have grown up with traditional Pakistani family values.
Asma came to live in the UK from Pakistan at the age of 22 with her late husband who died two years ago. She has three other children, all daughters, who are married and have their own families but live nearby. She has limited English as a second language and speaks Urdu.
Yusuf is an accountant and has his own small accounting firm that he runs with Saba. Asma now lives alone but the daughter visits her often. She had a fall coming out of the bathroom and was unable to get up on her own. She was found lying on the floor the following morning by one of her daughters who called an ambulance. Asma has been admitted to the ward and is diagnosed with fractured neck of femur. She is in severe pain and her temperature is 34.8*c on admission. The doctors have been to see Asma and have informed her that she needed surgery to correct her fracture. Asma has become tearful and withdrawn due to anxiety related to the surgery.
