Integration Project
Choose one to two of the following themes of the course as a foundation for your project.
The course themes are:
- Implicating Self.
- Anti-oppression.
- Anti-Racism, and Anti-Black Racism.
- Anti-Sanism.
- 2SLGBTQ+ Communities.
- Practice with Individuals and Groups.
- Activists and Activism.
- Importance of Resistance. Please note that the themes are not mutually exclusive and can intersect with each other.
Using the chosen theme(s) of the course, students will use the following question to guide their thinking for their project:
• How do you think encounters and relationships between processes of decolonization, the social work profession, and you (as a person) have been shaped by the themes you have chosen?
Then, students will choose one of the following methods for their project:
1. Write a traditional research essay (1500–2000 words or 6-8 double spaced pages maximum) with references to a minimum of 5 course readings or resources.
2. A creative writing piece. For example, a poem or short story. Make sure the creative writing piece is clearly linked to the course material. Unrelated creative writing will be returned unmarked.
3. A visual work. Respond by interpreting an image(s) visually (ie. drawing pictures, beading, sculpting, and creating games, websites, or interactive pieces). Make sure the medium is appropriate to the message(s) you wish to convey. In the written explanation of the response, be sure to talk about the form as well as your content.
Submission Guidelines for Written Projects:
• Paper submissions must be between 1500–2000 words or 6-8 double spaced pages maximum.
• Must include a minimum of 5 course readings/resources.
• Proper APA 7th Edition (including a title page and reference list but are not included in the word count)
