Locus of control is a measure on a person’s tendency to feel like they have complete control over outcomes of events in their lives. Instead of believing their fate is decided by (outside forces or powers beyond their control. Locus of control can be internal (believing one is responsible for one’s outcomes) or external (beyond out control; due to chance or fate). This affects performance because people with a strong internal locus believe that they are the only ones responsible for their outcomes. They assume full responsibility and control of their own actions. On the other hand people with external locus will have a tendency to blame others (people, situations) or make excuses for their outcomes.
