While (OER )OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES has many benefits, there are still a lot of people who are against OER creation.

Publishing is key to faculty tenure and promotion. OER does not have the same scholarly status as traditional publishing.
Intellectual capital is worth something. I should be paid for my creations.
Licensing of OER is not necessary as people will just take and use anything that is available online.
