Case Analysis

How is School Violent?

The focus of your signature assignment is an incident or case of school violence that made national news media attention. There are several possibilities, and some example options can be found in the full Signature Assignment description. The major component of the Case Study is a Case Analysis, for which the focus is on explaining why the incident happened from several perspectives. The final paper will require you to discuss fully and support with scholarly sources up to 5 different explanations. This paper (draft of that component) will get you jump started by asking you to provide preliminary discussion of at least 3 explanations.

If you choose a school shooting for your case, you must talk about why it happened. Your final 5 explanations could be mental illness, family problems, bullying, gun availability, and toxic masculinity but this draft may just focus on the first 3 or 4.

While this paper should be a formal, academic paper, it should be written in a way that is accessible to a general audience.
