assess your understanding of dance concepts, your ability to design active, enjoyable, and educational dance-based activities that are suitable for a PE context, and your understanding of the benefits of dance in physical education.
You need to design one 40-60 minute dance-based lesson/activity for a school PE context, and justify its appropriateness and benefit.
Specifically, you need to:
— Design practical activities and learning experiences related to dance – you may select any style or aspect of dance (e.g., ballroom, line dance, cultural dance, barre, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, cheerleading, dance-fitness, game based exer-dance) or include a variety or mishmash. — Create a resource/s that would support the learning of students in your lesson.
Your lesson needs to:
— Demonstrate and convey knowledge of dance in PE — Appropriately engage all participants through inclusive strategies. — Encourage active participation throughout the lesson — Be suitable for a range of abilities — Be well-planned and organized and develop logically
Your resource/s needs to:
— Be a minimum of one A4 page (can be longer) — Be thoughtfully created to assist the students learn or complete a task within your lesson.
Essentially, the resources needed to implement your lesson need to be submitted with the lesson plan.
You may include fellow students, friends, or family members in visuals on your resources (e.g., if you would like to demonstrate something involving more than one person) but all visuals must be your own. You cannot work together with another student to take photos and then share and both use the content. Any shared content that appears in multiple student assessments is collusion, which falls under the university’s academic misconduct policy.
Resources: — All of the dance content will help towards this assessment. 13
