Balzer et al. (2017) critically analyze the factors that influence the risk of falling in elderly people. The article narrows down the factors to revolve around the type of illness and the socioeconomic status of the person in question. According to the article, the type of intervention made available to the patient greatly determines the outcome of the clinical intervention. Balzer et al. (2017) conducts a research based on the findings in over 31,000 databases that gives the research a backbone of great relevance and reliability. The databases were acquired from all over the world with references made to both acquired and terminal illnesses. In extension, the article also talks about the role of patient will to intervention as a factor in influencing patient risk of falling. Indeed, the article was conducted with specific hence narrowed focus, with an exclusion being made on blind older people. However, the article ignores the possibility of other factors apart from the type of illness and socioeconomic status playing a part in the risk of falling, hence the results may not be entirely comprehensive.
