Curriculum Plan and Course Syllabus
1. Show an understanding of human culture, spiritual beliefs, and social aspects of healthcare and apply these concepts to provide quality and safe patient care (AACN, 2008).
2. Demonstrate awareness of the impact of policies, power, regulatory guidelines, and politics in a complex healthcare system and apply leadership skills to promote safe and quality patient care (AACN, 2008).
3. Understand fundamental elements of evidence-based practice and apply them in the research process and clinical judgments (AACN, 2008).
4. Demonstrate proficiency in information technology and technical skills, involving computers and applying information systems, patient care technologies, and telecommunication technologies to promote the safe nursing practice (AACN, 2008).
5. Understand how healthcare policies, including regulatory and financial policies, impact the functioning of the healthcare system; they should be able to implement new changes, policies, protocols, and guidelines in the healthcare system (Essential II & V).
6. Productively communicate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to facilitate evidence-based and patient-centered care (Essential III & VI).
7. Demonstrate prowess in patient assessment and treatment and understand the significance of disease prevention and health promotion (Essential VII).
8. Exhibit professional relationships with patients as well as other health professionals and employ value-based practice, integrity, altruism, and human dignity to provide quality, safe and ethical patient care (Essential VIII).
9. Demonstrate the core scientific principles that underly all the nursing skills and apply these competencies in safe and quality care for individuals, families, and communities in all environments (Essential IX).
