Individual Data Collection and Analysis
Individual task is to submit a 2-3 page, double-spaced typed summary of a sample of data collection and analysis. You can work together as a group to collect your data, but each individual is responsible for their own summary of the data collection process and analysis. . Then, each person will do their own description of the data collection process and submit their own analysis summary. Start with a general research question related to Kinesiology and then describe how you collected the data and then summarize the results from your analysis.
This task has two sections: 1) research question and data collection, and 2) data analysis.
Section 1.
Describe the process (about 1 page) you and/or your group used to collect your data to answer your research question, paying particular attention to the process you used to collect the data, the measures/instruments used to collect the data, and the population about which the data were collected. Include one table that summarized the demographics of your population (e.g., age, gender with appropriate population means, standard deviations).
Section 2.
write a short (1-2 pages) summary of the process to analyze the data to answer your research question. Be sure to include a description of your analysis technique (differences or associations) based upon your research question. You are to include a table that includes all means and standard deviations from your measurements and variables (e.g., average steps on work days compared to average steps on non-work days, with standard deviations for both). Perform an analysis on your data to identify differences or associations based upon your research question. If you are not able to perform a statistical analysis, you are able to report your data using means and standard deviations to describe the data to help you make informed decisions. For example, if you are not able to perform an ANOVA, you can discuss if the means and standard deviations of the steps per work day are similar or appear different compared to steps on non-work days (see slides for analysis example). Include one figure that displays the differences or relationships within your data. Finally, write 1-2 sentences that summarize the conclusions of your analysis that answer your research question.
